CSP2200 D-Cinema Sound Processor

The Panastereo CSP2200 is ideally suited for the special requirements of Digital Cinema now, and in the future. Because of the extremely high dynamic headroom, low noise, and very low distortion that Panastereo is famous for, the CSP2200 is the obvious choice for premium D-cinema presentations. The balanced outputs assure the clarity and low noise transmission of the audio signals to the power amplifier. A bi-amp option for the stage channels allows the high frequency and low frequency signals to be sent to the power amplifiers without the additional wiring or increased cost of an external electronic crossover system. Or you can select the standard outputs for economy, when you purchase the product.

Panastereo processors are well known for their accuracy and extremely pleasing sound quality. This is partly due to the fact that all audio circuits are analog and not DSP. This scheme avoids processes where sound is stored in the digital domain, converted to an analog output, re-digitized by a successive product and re-converted to analog to be amplified and sent to the speakers. This double digitizing can result in sound degradation. A computer in the CSP2200 controls all functions, including format selection, but does not interfere with the audio signal path.

The processor has a main 6-channel input for the D-cinema audio channels. A second 6-channel input is handy for another source, and an additional  2-channel input may be used for any other audio that may be required.

An exciting feature is the pre-show or non-sync inputs that provide intermission music for 6-channel or 2-channel sources. A pre-select panel permits the operator to select a 6-channel player such as the new multi-channel SACD (Super Audio CD), DVD-A (DVD 6-channel Audio) or conventional 2-channel CD. An additional  2-channel non-sync input may be used for slide show audio from a min-disk or CD player.

The digital “level memory” feature remembers the volume setting for each and every format.  When you return to a format that was previously used, the sound level is exactly as you set it the last time. This means perfect level matching during a format change for a smooth transition.

Bypass switches on the back of the unit allow bypassing most of the individual circuits in the event of a problem. The sound keeps running when these cards are switched out of the circuit. This also allows for easy servicing by using a process of elimination to find a faulty PC card.

Easy expansion to film sound in the event the processor is moved to an auditorium that is using both film sound and D-cinema sound. Simply replace the front panel by removing two screws and disconnecting the control cable, then plug in the full function panel. Six PC cards are added into the slots that are already provided. The cards include a dual projector stereo preamp, two Type “A” noise reduction cards, two studio-grade SR noise reduction cards, and a matrix card. It’s as simple as that!

The CSP2200 is an analog processor. Many audio experts agree that digital signals that have already been converted to analog should not be re-digitized, processed, and converted back to analog. This process can result in signal degradation. With the Panastereo CSP2200, the analog signals delivered from the server stay in the analog domain all the way to the auditorium loudspeakers resulting in a cleaner reproduction without additional digital artifacts.

Panastereo is not only the finest sound processor you can buy, using the finest parts, and boasts of highest craftsmanship for reliability and consistent sound quality and stability. Proudly made in the U.S.A.
